Cable glands: what to know

Our 15 Winline cable glands bring a cable into a junction box or an enclosure while keeping it sealed. They grip the cable and close the entry hole. The range has 4 grey PVC glands from 16 to 32 mm and 11 black plastic glands from PG07 to PG42.

Choosing a cable gland

A cable gland must match two measurements: the cable's outer diameter and the diameter of the box's entry hole. A gland that is too large does not grip the cable and lets water and dust in. With a suitable gland on every entry, a weatherproof box or an IP65 enclosure keeps its protection rating (IP ratings), provided the gland is rated at least as high: check this with us before you order.

Our models

  • Black plastic cable glands: 11 items in PG07, PG09, PG11, PG13.5, PG16, PG19, PG21, PG25, PG29, PG36 and PG42.

Frequently asked questions

Which cable gland size do I need?

Measure the cable's outer diameter and the box's entry hole, then choose the gland that matches both. Our PVC glands come in 16, 20, 25 and 32 mm. Our plastic glands run from PG07 to PG42.

What does PG mean?

PG is a standard series of threads for cable glands. The higher the number, the wider the entry: a PG42 takes much larger cables than a PG07. Tell us your cable diameter and we will check the clamping range with you.
