Silent inverter generators: what to know

Our 3 silent inverter generators power computers, TVs and small appliances during power cuts. They are Bison petrol sets from 2.3 to 5 kW, single-phase 220 V. Their datasheets give a total harmonic distortion below 2% for the BS2500iS and the BS6250iE.

Choosing an inverter generator

An inverter generator converts the alternator's output electronically. It therefore supplies a stable voltage and frequency that suit electronics. It usually adjusts the engine speed to the load. For high power or long running hours, a diesel set is a better fit: see our guide to diesel, petrol or inverter.

Our models

  • Bison BS2500iS: 2.3 kW (2.5 kW max.), recoil start, 58 × 34 × 50 cm, 27 kg.
  • Bison BS3500iS: 3.1 kW (3.5 kW max.), electric and remote start, 51 × 32 × 48 cm, 23 kg.
  • Bison BS6250iE: 5 kW (5.5 kW max.), electric and remote start, 72 × 48 × 64 cm, 47 kg.

Frequently asked questions

Why choose an inverter generator for electronics?

An inverter generator converts the alternator's output electronically. It delivers a stable voltage and frequency, which suits computers and electronic devices. The BS2500iS and BS6250iE datasheets state a total harmonic distortion below 2%.

Why is the rating given in kW?

The manufacturer rates its petrol and inverter sets in kW. Our diesel generators are rated in kVA, with kW = kVA × 0.8. Our finder compares these kW figures directly with your kVA need. See our guide to kVA vs kW.
