How do I find out the price of a product?

Our prices are given on request. Tell us which product you are interested in, using the WhatsApp or email button on its page, or through the contact form. We reply with a quote.

How do I ask for a quote?

Every product page has a WhatsApp button and an email button that prepare your message. You can also call +243 903 005 060 or write to info@mkenergies.com.

Where can I find the datasheets?

On the page of every product that has one. Catalogues by brand and by category are on the Downloads page.

Which brands do you sell?

We are an authorized dealer for LEO, Bison, Brux, Toyama, Volcan, Simba and Winline. We also offer generator sets from 13 to 2,000 kVA fitted with Perkins engines.

Delivery

Do you deliver outside Kinshasa?

Yes. We deliver in Kinshasa, Lubumbashi and the other provinces of the DRC. Lead time and cost depend on the destination and are stated in your quote. Our guide to delivering a generator to the provinces lists the information we need from you.

Does a generator lose power in eastern DRC?

Yes, above 1,000 m. Our finder increases the required capacity by about 3.5% for every 300 m above 1,000 m, which is about 6% at 1,500 m (Goma, Bukavu). In Kinshasa no correction is needed.

What is needed to deliver a large generator?

Truck access and a way to unload it on site. According to our datasheets, a 100 kVA soundproof set weighs 1,920 kg and a 500 kVA set weighs 5,900 kg. Each model's weight and dimensions are on its datasheet.

Generators

What is the difference between kVA and kW?

kVA measures a generator's apparent power, kW the power you can actually use. For a generator, 1 kVA is generally taken as about 0.8 kW: a 100 kVA set delivers about 80 kW. Our kVA vs kW guide has the full conversion table.

What do prime power and standby power mean?

Prime power is what the generator can deliver for unlimited hours per year under a varying load. Standby power is higher, by about 10 to 15% on our water-cooled sets according to their datasheets. It is meant for limited emergency use only. See our guide to prime and standby ratings.

What size generator should I choose?

Add up the power of the appliances you want to run and allow a margin for motor start-up. Our generator finder does the calculation and recommends a model. Our team then checks it with you. For a home, also read what size generator for a house.

Are your water-cooled generators Perkins generators?

No: Perkins makes the engine, not the set. They are generator sets with Perkins diesel engines, Leroy-Somer alternators and Deep Sea controllers. The make of the engine, alternator and controller is on every datasheet.

Are your generators single-phase or three-phase?

The water-cooled Perkins-engine sets, from 13 to 2,000 kVA, are three-phase (400/230 V or 380/220 V, 50 Hz). The air-cooled range has single-phase models (Bison, Brux) and three-phase models (Brux, 5.75 to 15 kVA). Our single-phase or three-phase guide explains how to choose.

Air-cooled or water-cooled: what is the difference?

An air-cooled set is compact and affordable for occasional use. A water-cooled set runs long hours under heavy load. Our air-cooled range runs from 2 kW (petrol) to 15 kVA (diesel), our water-cooled range from 13 to 2,000 kVA. The details are in our air-cooled or water-cooled guide.

How much fuel does a generator use?

According to our datasheets, at full load: 5.3 L/h for a 20 kVA set, 22.6 L/h for 100 kVA and 100 L/h for 500 kVA (Perkins-engine diesel sets). Each model's consumption is on its datasheet. The full table is in our guide to fuel consumption in litres per hour.

Can a generator be installed inside a house?

No. Exhaust gases contain carbon monoxide, which is odourless and deadly. Install the generator outdoors or in a dedicated ventilated room, away from windows. It must be earthed and fitted with a changeover switch. The rules are set out in our guide to installing a generator safely.

What does an automatic transfer switch (ATS) do?

An automatic transfer switch moves your supply to the generator during an outage and back to the grid when it returns. It also stops generator power from flowing back into the grid. Ask our team about it when you request installation.

Services and maintenance

Do you install generators and pumps?

Yes. We handle on-site installation, commissioning and a hand-over to your users. See our services.

Do you provide maintenance and after-sales service?

Yes: periodic servicing, diagnosis and repair, after-sales service and spare parts.

Do you sell spare parts?

Yes, for the equipment we sell. Tell us the brand, the model and, if possible, the serial number.

Do you repair motorcycles?

Yes. We repair motorcycles and supply spare parts for the motorcycles we sell. Tell us the brand, the model and the fault.

Rental

Do you rent out generators?

Yes. Describe what you need (power, duration, location) on the Generator rental page. We check availability and send you a proposal.

How long can I rent a generator for?

The rental period is agreed with you in the quote: a few days, a few weeks or longer.

Are fuel, transport and installation included?

Fuel, transport and installation terms are stated in each quote.

Can I rent a generator for use outside Kinshasa?

State the place of use in your request: we will tell you what is possible.

Can I buy a generator instead of renting one?

Yes. Browse our generators and ask for a quote from the page of the model you are interested in.
