Our 43 generators cover everything from backup for a house during load-shedding to continuous power for an industrial site. The range runs from 2 kW for the small petrol sets to 2,000 kVA for the water-cooled diesel sets with Perkins engines. In between, the air-cooled Bison and Brux sets go up to 15 kVA.

Choosing the right generator

Size is worked out from your appliances and from how your motors start. Our generator finder does the calculation, and our guide on what size generator for a house gives two worked examples.

Four other points then guide the choice:

the duty, continuous or backup, which sets the rating to read on the datasheet (prime or standby power);
the cooling, air for occasional use, water for long running hours (air-cooled or water-cooled);
the fuel and technology: diesel, petrol or petrol inverter (diesel, petrol or inverter);
the number of phases in your installation (single-phase or three-phase).

What generator sizes do you offer?

From 2 kW (small petrol sets) to 15 kVA (three-phase silent diesel) for the air-cooled Bison and Brux sets. From 13 to 2,000 kVA for the water-cooled diesel sets fitted with Perkins engines. Each model has a datasheet with its prime and standby ratings.

Soundproof or open frame: what is the difference?

The soundproof version sits in a canopy that reduces noise and protects the set from the weather. It is larger and heavier. The open-frame version is more compact and lighter, but it must be installed under shelter. For example, for a 100 kVA Perkins-engine set: 275 × 110 × 142 cm and 1,920 kg soundproof, 210 × 76 × 140 cm and 1,100 kg open frame.

What does a Perkins-engine set's datasheet contain?

Prime and standby power, voltage, frequency and speed. The engine model and displacement, fuel use at full load, the alternator, the controller and the sound level. The dimensions, weight and tank of the soundproof and open-frame versions. It can be downloaded as a PDF from each model's page.

Can a small air-cooled generator run all day?

That is not what it is built for. Our air-cooled sets, from 2 kW to 15 kVA, are made for occasional or backup use, within the running limits set by the manufacturer. For long hours every day, choose a water-cooled set: our Perkins-engine range runs from 13 to 2,000 kVA. The finder points you to the right range.
